Lucet: Beginning and Intermediate – June 1, 2024

$40.00

The lucet has been used to make cords for over a thousand years, for a thousand uses. Lucet cording is made by creating loop-like knots which do not unravel easily if cut.  Dating back to the Viking era, this method for cord making was popular through the early 1800s.

Description

Beginners will start with the basic square cord which will enable them to learn the principles of cord making including tensioning for different effects. They will learn both the turn and no-turn methods.

Once the no-turn method has been mastered, intermediate students will learn how to make interesting patterns using two strands of cording. If time permits, they will also learn how to use a gimp cord for additional decoration or add beads to their cording.

Lucets will be available for use in the class, or students may bring their own. A variety of materials will be available for students to choose from to make their cords.

Handmade lucets will be available to purchase at the class.
