Description
Yarn spinning tools have been found dating back to 50,000 BC. Learning is the greatest tool in history. We’ll begin by reviewing different types of fibers and how to prepare them for spinning. You will learn about all the different parts of a spinning wheel, the drive system, and important tips on maintaining your spinning wheel.
There are many aspects to learning to spin including proper posture and positioning of the wheel, pre-drafting and drafting techniques as you create your first single-ply yarn.
Different styles of spinning wheels will be available for you to try. Fiber will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own wheel if you have one, as it is best to learn on the equipment you will be using at home.
Pre-requsite: Must know how to use a drop spindle to attend this class. See Drop Spindle Class.
Allergy notice: Animal fibers are used in this class. If you are allergic to a specific fiber, please let us know.
